Behind every turtle saved, there is a human face. At the Foundation, we firmly believe that true conservation is born from the heart of local communities.

Today we want to pay tribute to the men and women of the nearby villages who have decided to change their history. Many of our current patrol members come from families that historically depended on consuming turtle eggs. Today, thanks to our sustainable employment and environmental education programs, these same citizens are the fiercest defenders of the species.

Social Transformation:

• Bilingual Education: Workshops in Spanish and English so that local youth can lead scientific ecotourism in the future.

• Green Jobs: We generate decent economic opportunities that coexist in harmony with nature.

• Generational Awareness: The children of Bioko now grow up seeing the sea turtle not as a resource, but as a national treasure that they must protect.
